Belo Horizonante, Brazil — Celebrity artist Jason Hulfish recently visited Smile Train partner hospital Centro de Tratamento e Reabilitação de Fissuras Lábiopalatais (Centrare) in Brazil and used his talents to bring smiles to Smile Train patients through an aquarium-themed design painted on the hospital’s walls.

Centrare was the winner of Smile Train Brazil's One Life, One History video contest. Videos were created by Smile Train partner hospitals from across Brazil, then a group of three finalists were selected by a panel of celebrity judges including: Willa Ford (Actress & Singer), Ryan Neces (Retired NFL Linebacker), Justine Simmons (Author & Entrepreneur), and Nicky Whelan (Actress). The finalists were then voted on by the public. Each submission was about two minutes in length and told a powerful story about a Smile Train patient.

Centrare’s video, Surprise and Overcoming received the most votes and the priceless design for their hospital. Jason, who has appeared on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Bar Rescue, painted an inspiring and interactive aquarium mural at the hospital, bringing colour and smiles to local cleft patients.

The hospital requested the theme as a nod to its city’s famous aquarium, Aquario Da Bacia Do Rio Sao Francisco.

Smile Train patients participated in the mural’s creation and also received makeovers themselves, provided by local hair stylists and makeup artists.
